Post coming soon

I'm putting together a tribute to the Gulf Coast and Keys right now. I spent a fair amount of time in the areas that are now being affected by the spill while I was a graduate student. Many of the communities were just hanging on before, and this spill will devastate not only the environment down there, which is very fragile, but also the livelihoods of a good portion of the population.

I feel so bad for you. Walking in the mud, visiting the bait shops, rescuing the hawk. Getting to know a land that is now being destroyed because of greed.

I look forward to seeing your tribute to a beautiful region that is probably being destroyed forever. BP should be put out of business over this. Of course, that wouldn't repair the damage done. It is breaking my heart; for you, after your work there, it must be even worse. Love of money (greed) truly is the root of all evil.

I'm thinking of writing an OpEd piece. This is not just BP's fault or Obama's fault. We all own this disaster. Everytime we drive when we could walk. Every big pickup used to commute. Everything about our car culture that drives the market for petroleum. Drug users in the US are responsible for opium fields in Afghanistan and drug cartels and border wars in Mexico and Columbia; and we are responsible for the sewer in the Gulf. And we can change, but we have to really want profound changes in our country.

bye bye leeville, dauphin island and the mouth of weeks bay. :( They've all got oil now. As if the hurricanes wiping out sites weren't bad enough.

Dlc and I caught a 45 gram trout/grandis in Cocodrie LA.
